  1. no way of counting... trillions upon trillions.. new ones form everyday, i think.....

  2. Those visible with the naked eye on a really clear night equal about  5,000. Total stars... it cant be proven because there seems to be a limit to the edge of the universe. But there could be more universes filled with stars that we simply can not detect so it is impossible to know for sure how many. However modern astronomy says there are about 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 of them.

  3. too many,, millions..

every star is a sun, and around every sun is orbit of planets..

i bet around there are other civilizations like humans or aliens

  4. There are no more than a few thousand stars that appear sufficiently bright in the Earth's sky to be visible to the naked eye.

But 70,000 million million million stars are estimated to be in the universe. It's also about 10 times as many stars as grains of sand on all the world's beaches and deserts.

The figure -- 7 followed by 22 zeros or, more accurately, 70 sextillion -- was calculated by a team of stargazers based at the Australian National University.

The number was drawn up based on a survey of one strip of sky, rather than trying to count every individual star.

The team used two of the world's most powerful telescopes, one at the Anglo-Australian Observatory in northern New South Wales state and one in the Canary Islands, to carry out their survey.

Within the strip of sky some 10,000 galaxies were pinpointed and detailed measurements of their brightness taken to calculate how many stars they contained.

That number was then multiplied by the number of similar sized strips needed to cover the entire sky, and then multiplied again out to the edge of the visible universe.

There are likely many million more stars in the universe but the 70 sextillion figure is the number visible within range of modern telescopes.

The actual number of stars could be infinite. The universe is so big light from the other side of the universe "hasn't reached us yet," according to Dr Simon Driver while speaking at the General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union meeting in Sydney.
