  1. Do you see a trend here?

All of a sudden consumers are left to fend for themselves - be it ATM, buffet restaurants, self-serve gas stations etc....

Yes, it is a rare breed indeed to see a team of people at a gas station rushing to help you pump gas, clean the windshield, check the oil, check the tire pressure etc...

    And......

to add insult to injury - they jack up the gas prices overnight as if the rise in oil prices in the financial market has somehow affected their profits. Millions and millions of gallons of gasoline still in their tanks underground is now worth a few more cents extra every day while they were sleeping. Go figure. And, they will not even come to pump the very same gas that they have made so much money on overnight.

It is getting tough out there.

To answer your question - NJ is one I can think of. I travel frequently coast to coast. Nope, I do not see many states coming to my aid to pump gas. It is annoying especially when I am about to make a sales call and I smell of gas.

  2. The only state I know of is NJ... it is a law there that they must pump it for you for safety reasons!   Go figure!

  3. There are two states that outlaw self service at gas stations, Oregon and New Jersey.

  4. Very few...Of all the states I travel, only New Jersey is still a holdout state. Liability being the reason, I guess.
