The olympics has started a flock of people wanting to swim. I find this annoying because i know people proboly think ah swimming is easy, anybody can do it, so ill give it a try. Im sure a lot of poeple are gunna quit as fast as they join. Swimmers with, what do you think?

  1. Well I don't know I was just thinking about doing as a sport in the winter as so I would have something to do because if i didn't then I would probably just do nothing. But yeah also heard it's a great way to get abs so I'm......thinking about it.

Sorry if this offends you in any way. Oh and I know it will be hard from what my friends have said, but i have support don't I?

  2. i agree with you a tiny bit. at the beginning of my YMCA's winter swim team last year, there were 86 people on our team. At the beginning of this winter, there are over 140 (around 143). Although about 20 people came from another team , most of these people are new swimmers who are deciding to try out swimming. i think its great for anyone under the age of 14 or 15 because they probably aren't doing it because they think its easy. But the high schoolers and some guys around 15ish are doing it because they think they'll make it big and get TONS of muscle and abs and everything. First of all, the muscle thing isn't gonna happen unless they train hard for about 2 hours 6 or 7 days a week for 1 year or so. They probably will end up dropping out in a few months or maybe at the end of the season, but hey. lets face it. it is fun to be able to lap the ppl who think they are amazing at swimming in practice. Also, new people to our team makes it a friendlier environment, and of course, lets us have more money to buy team supplies.

  3. Well i think that some people think that it is a really easy road to becoming a champion swimmer!

I myself started swimming a year ago after a rugby injury and chest illness and am still far away from competition even though I have been consistently training around 3 times a week.

Over the last 4 weeks I have accumulated 40km+ in the pool for only a little bit of improvement.

However there is so much satisfaction to be had from breaking your personal best time. My first time was a 17sec+ time for 25m and now I have got that down to a fairly good 13.2secs.

I say let people try but I think that most people who enjoy team sports will not like the solitary-ness of swimming. However this is one of the highlights for me and I don't have to be judged by my peers and I can simply get on with it!

  4. i find it annoying.

there going to quit once they find out its not easy and then once they get in the pool they think they are better then me and ive been swimming since i was 4  im like are you serious just get out of the pool.

but it will eventually die down

but look at it this way your club is getting more money which means better stuff for us swimmers

  5. no way, our team started off whimpy, and now we have a ton of swimmers. granted, they're not very good but still, we have a team.
