  1. These three words are tricky, because many people turn the "l" in these words into vowel sounds, when they really don't have them.

Whistling has two syllables - whist-ling

Recycling has three syllables - re-cyc-ling

Drizzling has two syllable - drizz-ling

In general, a word has as many syllables as it has separated vowel sounds.  In whistling that means the two i's.  In recycling it's the e, y and i.  In drizzling its the two i's.

At least, I think this answer is correct.   Honestly, I had to go to dictionary.com just to be sure on these.   I would suggest that you do that for any other syllable questions you have.

    Good question.

  2. all together is 10, whisteling and drizzling are both 3 syllables and recycling is 4

  3. actually.. we have been tought in school in this way. when you pronounce a word, do it with your hand on the bottom of  your chin, when your mouth in closed. Than say the word. Count each time your chin goes down, and that is how you separate a syllabe from another, and most important...  you never miss. Try it on those words, and see that you have 2, 3 and 2 again, for them. A very good trick ;)

  4. It depends, but how I say them it's 2, 3 and 2.
