How many tea bags do I brew in water to make a pitcher of ice tea?

If you get the Lipton family size tea bags, then you can use one for a half gallon and two for a gallon.  

I don't know what method you're using though. It might be different for an actual iced tea maker.  I make it on the stove with a tea pot.

If you BREW tea bags, you will probably get scum or foam on top .......Buy Lipton's COLD BREW bags.  I put 3-4 family-sized bags into a big pitcher of water;  let it sit on the counter and it "brews" in 5 min.  No foam or scum, because it's done in cold water........

if they are small tea bags... use about 8... if they are the large tea bags use around 4...

and just trial and error, see what you like... some people use less and some people use more!

It depends on how strong you like it. A tea bag is for a serving but it is also said that a tea bag can be used more than once. I use 12 bags myself to brew a gallon at a time. I let it sit for at least 4 hours too. This seems to get as much out of the tea bag as possible and is as strong as if I used 16 bags for the gallon and let it sit for just up to 30 minutes.

I use 8 tea bags to make 2 quarts of iced tea. Check the box, there may be instructions. If not, try 4 bags per quart and adjust to your tastes.
