  1. TEETH

Since pandas spend most of their time eating tough, nutrition-poor bamboo, strong teeth and jaws are very important to a panda's survival. Giant pandas have large molars (flat teeth used for crushing food). They also have a few sharp teeth which they use to bite tough bamboo stalks. Pandas have 42 teeth. They also have strong jaw muscles which they use for chewing tough bamboo.

  3. How many teeth does a Giant panda have?

It has 24 deciduous teeth and 40 - 42 permanent teeth.

  4. 20

    - 8 molars

    - 4 premolars

    - 4 canines

    - 4 incisors

  5. yes, the typical adult panda has 42 teeth.  Their dentition is not unlike human dentition with 2 incisors, 1 canine, & 3 molars, but they also have 3 premolars whereas humans have 2 (this is a description of .25 of the mouth, so totals should involve multiples of 4)

The molars and premolars look very much like those of sheep and other bovine.  They have large grinding surfaces and ridges that shred the fiberous bamboo.  the dental plate is also U shaped (think snout like, like a dog).
