  1. If you go to a chain+sprocket maker website such as Regina, Renthal or Vortex ect.  There will be a spot where you pick from a pull down box the year make and model of your bike.  The have this because they want you to buy their stuff!

When you select your bike, they will list the stock chain size, number of links (in the chain)and the number of teeth for the front and rear sprocket.  They will also list other sizes so you can change ratios if you want.  Example- #520(chain thickness/tensile strength), 120 links, 17/44 (front/rear).  Since this gives you the stock ratio-you now know what to order if say you want better acceleration- you could order a 17/46.

That should fix you up.  If nothing else, the service manual and the dealer have it and could tell you over the phone.

  2. typically 47, but you can add or subtract a few depending on what sort of power you want. if you want to go faster but get to your top speed slower, go up in teeth. if you want to not have quite as high of a top speed, but go quicker, then go a couple teeth lower. but either way you go, do not go much more than 3 teeth difference.

  3. count the teeth on the circular jagged looking piece of metal (sprocket) on the hub next to the rear tire.
