How many think Denny Hamlin should be docked 25 points for purposely bringing out the caution?

Just like Earnhardt got docked 25 points at Bristol a few years ago. Hamlin could have easly made it to pit road rather than stopping on the track.

  1. i do i do i do i do i do

  2. YES PLUS 25,000 BUCKS AND 6 MONTHS DOUBLE SECRET PROBATION!

  3. I think his 2 lap hold was sufficient. He should have gone in earlier, but when it did finally go..traffic wasn't exactly the easisest to get down to pit road on..so he was up the track. He could have rushed it a bit more..so I think the 2 lap penalty was a good thing..and 25 would be a bit much. Slap his wrist this time and than come flaring with guns the second time.

  4. i think he should be repeatedly punched and kicked in the face for it, what he did was worse than kyle busch turning right into junior

  5. He should have been black flaged and given a dnf. That would prevent other teams from trying that in the future.

  6. The 2 lap penalty was good enough.

  7. yes because it would not have let the prick (kyle busch) catch up to dale and dale would have won for the first time into 2 years  and i hope jr puts kyle busch in the wall next week

  8. He was already penalized 2 laps for purposely bringing out the caution.  Considering that put him back at least 8 positions and lost him at least 24 points, (more if you think he might have gotten the lucky dog for the earnhart/busch incident, and then gotten on the lead lap again).  I think he basically received that penalty, or he could have finished worse if more drivers were on the lead lap, or 1 lap down.

  9. ABSOLUTELY!! he knew better, that is why he did it!

  10. absofrickinlutely!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. Yes.

  12. No he should have won that race! I agree the 2 laps was enough! GO DENNY

  13. Nope

  14. Remember, these are professionals, drivers know exactly what they are doing. Including Denny Hamlin. Im still scratching my head over it.

  15. h***s Yeah

  16. Oh yeah, he knew he was going flat he shouldve gotten off track.  Jr lost the race because of him and Kyle.  Kyle wouldve never gotten Jr though if the caution didnt come out.

I am so sad and irate!

  17. YES

  18. Denny was penalized 2 laps for stopping on the track, thereby probably costing him more than 25 points.  If he'd tried to drive to the pits on a flat, the tire would have come apart and then there'd be a debris caution.  So either way, there would be a caution and Denny was penalized.

  19. Thats no better than when Dale Jr spun out on purpose to bring out the caution a couple years ago, it just wasn't as creative.

A 25 point penalty sounds fair.

  20. On the TV broadcast, they played a comment from his spotter that his tire looked fine and the pit chief saying to make sure it was a flat.  The TV announcers were also not sure when they looked at the tire if was flat or not.

So if your Denny, it's a call of trusting your instincts or the crew you've got.  With the end so near in sight at a track where a win means so much to the driver and conflicting information; I'd allow anyone a couple lap indecision.

As for intentionally drawing the caution, I think the answer could be answered by reviewing the the conversations between Denny and his spotter.  Is the spotter telling him to wait?  We don't know.  If FOX gets to listen in to those conversation, I'm guessing NASCAR does as well and if they suspect anything truly foul, they'll act.

  21. The 2 lap penalty was sufficient.

  22. I still maintain his Crew Chief told him to stay out. I think Denny wanted to come in. I'd be for penalizing the Crew Chief.

  23. Yeah I think so, when a driver does that it becomes a safety issue not a stratagy issue. Fine the punk.
