  1. what is chapati?

American are a bread eating nation

also potatoes more so than rice

fried potatoes, boiled, mashed, roasted, baked.. its all potatoes

Fried foods in the south are common.. fried chicken, fried fish.

    grilled steaks.. hamburgers, pizza, spagetti.

loads of soda like coke and pepsi.

most americans eat 3 meals a day.. breakfast, lunch and dinner.. some eat smaller snacks throughout the day.

some eat tinier more meals like several healthy things 6 times a day instead of 3 heavy meals.. just depends..

  2. americans eat three meals a day

    Breakfast

    Lunch (some call it dinner)

and Dinner (some call it supper)

Most americans don't know what chapati is. I do, I love it (one of my best friends is indian)

instead of Chapati, we eat bread. Usually theres's some type of bread at every meal

We eat italian food, chinese food, mexican food, and things like hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza

So: the main ingredients in an american meal:

    Bread, Potatoes, meat, cheese

For example: a typical american supper would be hamburgers (meat and bread) with french fries (potatoes) and salad (lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, celery, carrots)

  3. I think chapati is similar to bread or tortilla---So that's what Americans eat instead:  usually bread, or sometimes a tortilla!!

Americans generally eat 3 meals per day.  Breakfast-in the morning; Lunch-at mid-day, and Dinner-in the evening.  Dinner is usually the largest meal; Breakfast and Lunch are smaller meals.

Breakfast usually contains a starch or bread.  It can be eaten with a number of different things... Coffee or tea, fruit Juice or fresh fruit, milk, etc.  Some common breakfasts are cereal and milk or oatmeal (grains), a bagel (similar to bread) and cream cheese, coffee and doughnuts (a pastry), etc...  A Full American breakfast will include eggs, some type of bread (toast or biscuit, or pancakes or french toast), meat (bacon, sausage, ham), and sometimes fried potatoes  or hash browns.  Most Americans would only eat a Full Breakfast on weekends since it is such a large meal and takes so much time to prepare and eat.

Lunch can be thought of a small dinner...  Sandwiches are very common, which is meat inside of bread, often with cheese.  Sometimes Potato chips or french fries are served along side.  Lunch may include other things like a salad, fresh fruit or vegetables, or snacks-like cake, cookies, or granola bars.  Sometimes people will eat leftovers from the previous night's dinner as lunch.

Dinner will usually center around a Meat, and include a starch and vegetables.  Bread may be served with dinner, but it's not always preferred.  Meat is usually chicken, beef, or pork, sometimes fish or seafood.  Starches are usually Potato or Rice, sometimes beans.  Pasta is another common starch, usually as part of an Italian meal.  Some common vegetables are corn, green beans, brocoli, carrots, peas, tomatoes, etc.  A fancy 3-course dinner will start with an appetizer-commonly a soup or salad-the 2nd course will be dinner, and the 3rd course is dessert.

Food or snacks in-between meals is common:  things like candy, sweets, fruit or cheese.  Or some people may eat a dessert after dinner.  Also some people may only eat 2 meals a day:  they may skip breakfast and compensate with a larger lunch.  Or they may eat Brunch (combination breakfast and lunch, or see the Full Breakfast)-typically on Sunday, since a lot of Americans are Christian and that is their religious day.  Sunday dinner may be extra large as well.

Almost every meal have a drinks or beverages served alongside.  Soda is very common, especially with lunch or dinner.  Other drinks could include fruit juice (orange, apple, or grape are probably the most common), milk, coffee or tea; especially with breakfast.  Water may be served with any meal in addition to or instead of other drinks.  Alcohol, like beer or wine, while not as commonly served with their meals as Europeans, would usually only be found served with dinner.  Some Americans will drink coffee or tea following dinner as well.

However there are many ethnicities in USA, so Americans eating habits may differ as there are countries in the world!

  4. AMERICANS MOSTLY EAT FOOD THREE TIMES A DAY. THREE TIMES DRINKING TEA,IN THE NIGHT ONE TIME DRINKING OATS PUDDING.THEY MOSTLY EAT PRIMARY FOODS,PRIMARY CURRY MASALAS ETC.PRIMARY FOODS INCLUDE RICE,CARROT, BEAT ROOT,CABBAGE,BEANS, SOYA BEAN,CUCUMBER, FRUITS LIKE BANANA AND VITAMIN TABLETS............................

  5. it just depends

  6. Americans generally eat 3 meals a day (dinner being the biggest, unlike Europe and other more health-concsious countries). Typically, Americans don't eat chapatis, unless they are going to an Indian restaurant or are from an Indian family.  The main ingredient that Americans eat are probably meat, dairy (butter, cheese, milk), and starch (bread, pasta, potatoes).  Americans like to eat all sorts of dishes.  However typically Caucasian Americans eat Americanized versions of ethnic food.  (Kung Pao chicken, general tso's chicken, etc).

  7. Americans eat all sorts of dishes such as Tandoori, Chow Mein(Chinese). Really the types of foods are endless. Its depends on who it is,really there is not main ingredient at all, you can put different ingredients all the food to make them taste different, even if the recipe doesn't call for it.

  8. It all depends on the person. Like the previous people who answered, they do eat 3 meals a day with a snack(s) dispersed in between. I do know that the servings here are much bigger than those in other countries (probably why we're a big country) but some know how to control it.

The reason why I say it depends is possibly mainly because of their ethnicity. I'm Chinese/Vietnamese American (and we're vegetarian) and my mom likes healthy food. In short, she cooks for the family and we rarely go out to eat. We mainly revolve around Asian food, but occasionally our neighbor, who's Indian, will bring over food for us to try. She'd also cook other ethnic foods like veggie burgers, tacos, and speghetti. We tend to stay away from more fatty foods. I guess it depends on how ethnically diverse you are, or how open you are to other things.

From what I see from some of my friends, many of them love soda and they eat out quite a lot. Oh... and it may also depend on your age. I'm noticed that most college students, or just students in general, tend to skip breakfast.
