  1. It depends on the city/county/state you live in and what court you are being summoned to, you'll need to check. It is possible to be called more than the legal limit, and it is possible to get out of a summons if that is the case.

  2. The more often you show up the more often they call you.  I don't know if all states are the same but it could be 4 times in a year or once a year if you get on a jury.

Of course if you get stuck on a jury for a few months you can probably beg off for the rest of the year.

Now if you wanted to know how to get off of doing Jury duty...that's another question.

I believe most should go.  It's an excellent learning experience that may some day help you if you should ever be taken to court.

I've been about 5 times in my life but I was testifying twice against a criminal.  He's in jail for life.  (3 strikes law here !)

Do you want some stupid jerk on the jury who will let a guilty person free or an innocent person go to jail.  We need intelligent people doing an important job.  At least you don't have to go to war.

  3. There is no limit.

  4. New York is once every two years.

  5. If you either serve, or call and are not needed, you're home free for one year.

But there's no limit to how many years they can send a summons.

  6. I have had to serve 3 times in 18 months.  I complained but it did not help/
