I tend to wait until the disc is full then delete and record again. Now although it looks like it is recording when I go to play it I get a "blank" message flashing up and nothing is recorded. Is there only a certain number of times you can re record on one disc? Thanks

  1. Yes. It depends on the manufacturer, but they usually say you can record on them up to 1000 times.

If you're using a cheap or unbranded disc rather than a name brand, then this figure is likely to be a lot lower. If the disc is scratched or is otherwise damaged or dirty in some way, then this will also reduce the number of times you can record to it.

  2. If you are using a DVD-RW for data instead of DVD-Video or Audio then use a DVD-RAM.

DVD-RAM is basicly a a DVD hard drive. It has approx. 300,000 recordings possible and is deigned to be used multiple times.

DVD-RW is only a dirt cheap version of DVD-RAM but unlike DVD-RAM it can be used for DVD-Video.

  3. Up to 1000 times.
