  1. Never had it done, but from my research typical couples need 3-5 rounds...at abut $12,000 each round.

Add: $500? You must not be in the states. Where is it $500?

  2. I had my first and it failed...I go for my second next week.  Hopefully it will only take me 2 times!

As for cost, mine only costs $400 and this includes the lab fees and the insemination.  We don't require any injections, though.

  3. We tried:

3 IUI cycles with Clomid - all unsuccessful

3 IUI cycles with injectible fertility meds- had one short-lived chemical pregnancy

1 IVF cycle - finally achieved pregnancy - now 32w2d pregnant with twins.

I have many friends who were successful on their 2nd or 3rd IUI . . .it is all about a bit of science and a lot of luck!

ADD: As to cost, it depends on the treatment and medication - a natural IUI or IUI with something like Clomid could be several hundred dollars . . . but if you move onto an injectible cycle the FSH meds could cost thousands alone . . . and IVF tends to be in the $8000 - 16,000 or more due to meds and the egg retrieval which is more of a surgical procedure.

ANOTHER ADD - Just noticed that you live in MA . . . that could be good.  If your insurance company is through Massachusetts, then you have a good chance at having much of your treatments covered!  I live in MA, too - we went through Boston IVF.  I have BC/BS HMO through my employer and we only paid co-pays for our treatments and meds.  You can call 1-866-LETS TRY for a free analysis of your insurance coverage - check out http://www.fertilitylifelines.com/

    Best wishes!

  4. 3 times failed.  Twice with Clomid, once with injectables.

My RE charges about $500 per squirt for the insem.  This doesn't include the ultrasounds, the drugs, or the lab fees (they wash your man's swimmers and centrifuge away the weak ones).
