  1. Once for the written test... that part's easy.

Took me twice for the practical test.  I was using the independent tester's 250cc bike, so I wasn't really used to it.  Luckily I got a free retest :-).

  2. one

  3. First try....on the Nighthawk I rode during my MSF course.

  4. First try:  I got 100 on the written... but just BARELY passed the driving part.

I, too, strongly recommend the motorcycle safety foundation classes.

  5. first try, both times:

first time on a 77 CB750 (elephant on 2 wheels)

second time on a CBR1100XX (current bike)

(lost my license for 90 days at 17 for 2 traffic violations...)

  6. If you are having problems ,I would recommend the Motorcycle safety foundation course. even if you have been riding for some time. I took it and learned a lot.  it covers all the riding skills you would need to pass a test and a lot of survival tips that you might not think of on your own.

  7. 1 time

  8. Just once, and after riding for half a week (2 or 3 days actually). I took the test on the next weekend.

I point at the first motorcycle as being a great trainer, a CMT200 Twinstar. Made it all very easy. This in spite of the fact I am 6' even and at the time weighed 240 lbs, all terrible defects for a rider of such a small motorcycle.

Its why I universally recommend a 250 for a first ride to own.

  9. 2 times for the written... I hadn't read the DMV's guide and had expected simple "rules of the road" type questions. The riding test, I passed the first time.

  10. 98% on the written first time.

14 points faults for riding test (passed) first time.

  11. first time on a yamaha 250 cruiser in the MSF course and first time at DMV for my permit

  12. First time go!

    no studying

    no class

    just took it and passed

I often wonder if it was because the trooper that gave me the test was my girl Friends dad

  13. 1

  14. I passed it my first time around and after driving a motorcycle for just under a week.

  15. Once....after taking the MSF course....it prepares you well.....just read over the book once before you take the test.

A guy that took the MSF course with me had failed the test a few times before the course still managed to fail the written the first time he took it after the course and passed it on his second attempt.

Really, it's what you put into it.  I had never ridden a bike before the MSF course and the guy I am refering to had 10 years plus riding without a Motorcycle endorsement.

    Happy Riding to you!

  16. twice. The first time I had already been riding a whole year. i thought I could pass it using common sense. The test is designed to see if you memorized the book. Some of the questions have no logic but it's in the book so...

  17. it took me two times, i didn't pass  the first time because i didn't study for the written portion. my mistake, but i aced the driving and written part the second time

  18. the written part - once

then my parents decided to say... no
