How many times did you attempt to breed your bettas before you succeeded?

I'm just curious because I've had way more failures than successes. None of the fish have died or anything, just for various reasons it didn't work out. I probably tried about a dozen times before I had my first successful mating.

  1. I have a beta, but have never bred them, but I do remember @ a pet store, they have infor  on each of the fish for breeding and pairing them, and it says that for betas to only pair a male and female at a certain time. Many females will show interests in males but they may not be truly ready to spawn. Another important thing to look for is if a female betta is receptive to the male she will display vertical bars along her body...If your female displays this to the male and is fully bloated with eggs, she is likely ready. so basically, if you don't pair them at the right time, they won't mate :)

  2. I tried since I was a teenager! But this was before my internet years:)

I just went to http://www.bettatalk.com and read all about it.

I never used the Styrofoam cup before, which I guess was why the bubble nest would pop almost as soon as he built it.

The cup gives it four sides to 'hold on' to, keeping it intact long enough to be able to use.

My mom was absolutely amazed at the whole process, and I guess the other's didnt read your question very well hmm?

But yes, you are not the only one that it took alot of tries for.

    *raises hand* me too!

  3. i thought you weren't supposed to pair them?

  4. Wouldn't it be better to ask your local pet store
