  1. We have landed on the moon 6 times between 1969 and 1972.  The missions were Apollo 11, 12 , 14, 15, 16, and 17.  Two more orbited the moon and returned, Apollo 8 and Apollo 10.  Apollo 13 had problems and flew by the moon and returned to Earth.

  2. Some people say never - that it is a grand conspiracy perpetrated on the american people, filmed in an airforce hanger to "beat" the Russians to the moon and get a leg up in the cold war.

But the first answer is the "official" US stance on it.

  3. Six times,

In each case, a 3-man crew was sent to the Moon, two of whom landed, whilst the third remained on the mother ship in orbit around the Moon.

The twelve who landed on the Moon and their spaceships were:

    Apollo 11 [July 20, 1969]:

[1] Neil Armstrong "One small step for (a) man, One giant leap for mankind..."

    [2] Buzz Aldrin

    Apollo 12 [November 19-20, 1969]:

    [3] Pete Conrad

    [4] Alan Bean

Apollo 13 is famous for not getting there and the heroic efforts needed to save the crew.

    Apollo 14 [February 5-6, 1971]:

    [5] Alan Shepard

    [6] Edgar Mitchell

    Apollo 15 [July 31-August 2, 1971]:

    [7] David Scott

    [8] James Irwin

    Apollo 16 [April 21-23, 1972]:

    [9] John W. Young

    [10] Charles Duke

    Apollo 17 [December 11-14, 1972]:

    [11] Eugene Cernan

    [12] Harrison Schmitt

  4. Which is more probable?

We went to the moon with less computer power than a digital watch and are going back and then to Mars and then to Zeta Reticuli.

  5. 6

    Apollo missions 11-17 excluding 13.

  6. 9 total missions, six of which included landings and surface activities.

  7. The US has never left the earth, it's astronauts have been on the moon though.

  8. Walked on the moon?  6 times with 24 astronauts.

A manned spaceship around the moon?  many more than that.

Unmanned spaceship and manned spaceships?  Even more still.

  9. Nine manned missions have been to the Moon, each with three men. Three men went twice, so a total of 24 men have been to the Moon. Two of those missions (Apollo 8 and Apollo 10) were orbit-only missions. One of them (Apollo 13) was supposed to be a landing but the mission was aborted due to an oxygen tank explosion and the spacecrfat simply looped round the Moon and came back. Six missions (Apollo 11, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17) included a lunar landing, in which two men went to the surface while the third stayed in orbit, making 12 men who have walked on the Moon.

And in case the number shave you wondering, Apollo 1 never flew as the crew was killed in a fire in the spacecraft during a ground test; there were no officially designated Apollo 2 and 3 flights (though there were corresponding unmanned flights); Apollo 4, 5 and 6 were unmanned test flights, and Apollo 7 and 9 were Earth orbital flights only.
