All mammals have 5 digits on each hand/foot/paw. The bones above a horses hoof reveal that all of the "fingers/toes have fused the thumb equivalent is that lumpy bit on the fetlock

THEY HAVE 4 ON THE FRONT WITH A LITTLE STUMP AND 5 ON THEIR BACK PAWS.
