How many tons is my air handler?

I also need to know if the air handler is a 3 ton unit for example can I replace the heat pump with a 3 ton and be ok?

An air handler, is an air handler, they're not rated in tonnage, they're rated in CFM. They move the air over the cooling coils inside the house, and have the filters. the heat pump (outside) however, is the tonnage rated part. If your not going to do this project yourself, you'd be better off getting a dealer out for an estimate, they may have a more efficient unit, for cheaper. And can better advise your requirements.

It is a 3 ton, if you replace an older heat pump, replace the indoor coil as well.
