In a return journey from the UK to the French Alps, my diesel car produces 670kg of carbon in a week. How many trees do I need to plant to offset this?

  1. Depends on the tree and how fast you want to offset the carbon.  Smalll trees = less carbon. And slow growing trees like oak  take longer.  But one decent sized tree is enough.  Say a species of fir or pine that will get big enough in a few years to sequester that much carbon.

  2. trees that will reach a mass of about twice that weight.

  3. It's not about planting trees, it's about fossilizing them.  I'd say fossilize 2 or three oaks to be safe.  Make sure nobody can dig them up and burn them again.

  4. i think that u have to plant only 2 or 3 trees so carbon doixide will not be relased by trees.
