How many true friends in life can you have?

I dont mean people you party with or hang out with every once in a while I mean true friends who will stick by you no matter what and actually care about you. Is it true you can count your true friends on one hand? How can you tell if someone is a true friend?

A true friend is someone who is always there for you when you need them, works out disagreements with you easily no matter how much magnitude they have, prefer socializing with you over any other person, share at least a few of your interests and enjoy doing things with you, you can tell them secrets or worries and they'll keep it to themselves, they'll stick up for you when you're in trouble, and accept your differences and like you for being you. Sometimes I have one of those, then the person screws up and he's not a true friend, then all the sudden he's a true friend again. I wander how that works.

I think this is a good question- i Dont think you will know until you are put in a position that'll show you who they really are. They will not judge you for anything either!  

I have one true friend that has been there for me through ever tough part of my life and has never judges me for anything! We don't hang out alot but she calls just to say hi and see how i'm doing.

its sorta like the level up from friend. so basically, if you feel like the person is a friend, then they are a friend, but if they are more then that, then they are a good friend. ha, i probably confused you more, just ignore my answer lol

By the way they treat you, if they respect u and never do any thing to brake that frisndship bond and will always stick to ur side than thats a real friend.

I have good friends, and family, that are there for me no matter what.. even when i dated my husband he was there for me way before i married him, now he is there still for me, and so is my best friends... plus my family

in your life you probably can count your true friends on one hand. you can have friends that are true to you for a small period of time to a very long period of time, but they can eventually slip away. you can tell if someone is a true friend by how they deal with your secrets, if they keep them or if they run around telling everyone. if they can tell when you're not doing well or having a bad day, and they care enough to ask you whats going on and if they can do anything to help. if they will be there through thick and thin. basically they're the person you can always count on, no matter what.

true friends take a life time to find. you noe wenn yew find a true friendd. i think yew will always have one true friend that will b there for yew threw it all. derr hard to find. but yew cant luk for them. the best friends just come to yew. if you luk for them, most likely yew wont find da rite one. i think u will have one true friend, a handful of really gud friends, n alot of just friends you see every now and then.

You are right ( on one hand ).  You never really know what is in someone's heart.  You will find out they are true friends as time goes on, or when your butt is hanging over a cliff and you need a hand to pull you in.

I read this book that says in life we can depend on our parents, sibilings and only 2-3 close friends. I feel like that is true 2-3 true friends.
