  1. That is more of an engineering question, which has to do with the amount of air you plan to compress. The more air, and the engine speed will determine the required size needed to prevent a pressure restriction, typically the larger capacity of the turbo, and the engine displacement will be needed to determine the inter cooler dimensions,

    The Porsche 911 Turbo is a twin turbo so it has 2 intercoolers. One for each turbo.

    The Bugatti Veyron has 4 turbo's and 10 intercoolers. 4 for the turbochargers and the rest for the hige engine and transmission which get very hot.

  3. well when you go on ebay there are twin turbo intercoolers. those allow you to put two turbos on one intercooler. the thing is it takes up space. it is like putting intercooling units on top of each other.
