  1. From what I understand it's not how much or how little you drink it is the way it affects your life both public and private.  I'm not sure if there is such a measure when it comes to being alcoholic.

  2. Alcoholism is defined by the urge to drink, not the amount of alcohol consumed. If you've abused alcohol to the point where your brain begins to physically crave it, then you've become an alcoholic.

Abusing it every day will just destroy your liver.

  3. one drink a day................and what is a unit??

  4. i used to know a girl that thought 1 beer per day was an alcoholic.  I think it has more to do with someone who cannot function without having a drink.  those people generally drink several drinks throughout the day, every day.

  5. If you "have" to or "need" to drink every day, regardless of the amount, you have a problem. If you're unsure, you probably do have a problem, and it's best to seek help now... before you're in denial and your life really suffers.

  6. Id'n know. What's a 'unit'?

  7. if your abusing the alcohol the get high or avoid problems ur an alky no more than two drinks A DAY

  8. it depends on the person but if your drinking to get drunk and your trying to drink away your problems than you are an alcoholic.

  9. If you need to ask you're probably abusing it already......!

  10. whenever i watch the "Intervention" show it seems like most ppl on there consume at least a liter of alcohol a day

  11. There's a difference between alcoholism and alcohol abuse.  You could drink a beer a day for a week and then not drink for 2 weeks.  As long as you are NOT dependent on it to get by.

Alcoholism: Physical dependence on alcohol to the extent that stopping alcohol use will bring on withdrawal symptoms. In popular and therapeutic parlance, the term may also be used to refer to ingrained drinking habits that cause health or social problems. Treatment requires first ending the physical dependence, then making lifestyle changes that help the individual avoid relapse. In some cases, medication or hospitalization are needed. Alcohol dependence can have many serious effects on the brain,  liver, and other organs of the body.

Alcohol abuse: Use of alcoholic beverages to excess, either on individual occasions ("binge drinking") or as a regular practice. For some individuals-children or pregnant women, for example-almost any amount of alcohol use may be legally considered "alcohol abuse," depending on local laws. Heavy alcohol abuse can cause physical damage and death.
