How many unpaid days off can I take as a teacher in Pennsylvania?

I'm wondering how many unpaid days I can take off in a year without affecting my retirement...I'd like to take time off for my honeymoon, but don't want to s***w up my retirement. Thank you!!

  1. I'm not sure how it works in Pennsylvania, but in WV, teachers get  about10 days yearly, and if you don't miss all ten days, you get them added to the next year.


  2. I teach in PA and I get 10 sick days, 2 personal days per year.  We can take unpaid days after that it used up.  

    You need to ask your district for time off.  It may not be a problem at all.  We have forms we fill out for our time off.  

    I'm not sure it is such a good idea if you are not tenured though (3 years)... Can you take your honeymoon during spring or Christmas break?

  3. I think around 20 days and if you don't take 20 then it willbe added to next year.
