  1. There are 42 gallons in a barrel of oil.  That oil can be refined into a combination of gasoline, jet fuel, home heating oil and other products.  When the volume of all products made from the barrel of oil is added up, it totals more than 42 gallons.

    If you want to know how much gasoline is in a barrel of CRUDE, it is about 50%.
