  1. My best friend is a vegetarian and she doesn't eat it. She doesn't eat anything made with it, same with beef broth. She doesn't eat marshmellows or Jello because they're made with gelatin, which is made from animals.

Personally I think you're still eating the result of animals being killed.

  2. i don't understand the logic in using chicken stock when you are vegitarian when there are obvious alternatives like vegetable stock.  just because the chicken stock is made from boiling the carcass and bones or whatever, doesn't mean that it's suddenly acceptable to eat it.  now i dont want to be in wars ver whos more vegitarian but at the end of the day it is still an animal product, you may agree with it, you may not, it's merely a personal choice but it's certainly not a very vegitarian or vegan thing to be doing.

  3. None-if you consume chicken stock you are not a vegetarian.

I'm not judging, because I still eat fish and seafood, but I don't call myself a vegetarian. Technically speaking, vegetarians do not consume any animal flesh-stock is created from animal flesh.

But, hey-eat what you want and don't be paranoid about labels.

  4. No vegetarians eat chicken stock... If they are actually vegetarians they would use vegetable stock.

For some irrational reason new vegetarians believe that gelatin and chicken stock are vegetarian, I don't get it.

  5. Chicken stock is made by boiling the carcass or gizzards of the animal...So NO it's not vegan and if you have it regularly, you aren't vegan either! I personally am a meat eater and I respect everyone's decision to eat whatever they like. HOWEVER I have no respect for people who say 'I am vegetarian but I eat chicken and fish' or 'I am vegan but I eat eggs/cheese/whatever' this is stupid.

Don't call yourself something you aren't. If you are a vegan who had an 'accident' once without realizing, then you are still a vegan, if you are a 'vegan' who has chicken stock regularly, then stop calling yourself vegan! I think a lot of people love saying 'i am vegan' a lot more than they actually ACT vegan. Some people think this is a cool, trendy thing to be for some reason.

Truthfully, nobody but other vegans care if you are vegan or not. The rest of the world could give a $hit what other people eat. So if you don't want to be vegan, DON'T, just stop calling yourself one if you aren't. It's annoying to us meat eaters and probably more annoying to your fellow vegans who actually stick to this diet!

Personally, I tried being vegan and almost ended up in the hospital with a doctor basically calling me an idiot . I look and feel much better with some meat in my diet and that's just my body type. I wish I could be one of these people who doesn't need meat but I really gave it a good try and could never make it work for me. This is the way my body is and I accept this. I go for organic and free range meat and eggs generally. And no, I don't still claim to be veggie or vegan, though I still enjoy vegan foods sometimes.

  6. You can't eat chicken stock or broth and call yourself a vegetarian.  That is just ridiculous.  My 7-year-old son is smart enough to know that.

This is not about whether or not you're a PETA activist.  This is about vegetarianism.  You are NOT a vegetarian.  Stop having chicken broth and you will be...probably.  If you think chicken broth is vegetarian I wouldn't be surprised if you still eat Jello, gelatin, and marshmallows.

You should really do some research before you call yourself something you don't understand.  It gets non-vegetarians very confused...

  7. i'm a vegetarian, and i eat broth, because it isn't physical meat in it, it has flavor.

  8. chicken stock is made from dead chickens so no, i dont eat it. any shop product i buy has to have  a V on it so i know theres no animal in it.

  9. Usually chicken stock is not vegetarian, but it isn't occasionally.

It's usually made out of boiled skin and disgusting stuff, and then chicken fat is added.

So most of the time, it isn't vegetarian, and isn't vegan.

But you can get "chicken-style" stock, that's vegetarian and vegan. I suggest you try that if you really like chicken stock. But you should check the ingredients of the chicken stock you have first.

  10. There is a type of vegetarian that eats fish (pescitarian), but no type where someone eats chicken. I am a vegetarian, and i do not eat chicken in nugget form, OR stock form.

  11. Vegetarians do not eat OR drink animals.

Chicken stock is made of dead chickens.

  12. no, its not vegetarian.no vegetarian eats it, cuz then they wouldnt be a vegetarian. its ok though, since you didnt know. just dont eat it again. : )

  13. No vegetarian eats it. Chicken Stock and broth is the result of simmering the animal carcass.  it's a by product of a slaughtered animal and we don't eat it.

  14. none.  vegetarians don't eat animals (or their 'stock' for that matter) and anyone who does is NOT a vegetarian.  you may want to call yourself a vegetarian, but you're not one.

a vegetarian avoids any biproducts of slaughter, and since a chicken had to die to make your chicken stock it is obviously not vegetarian.

    vegetarian = no dead animals.

seriously.....how hard is that for people to understand?!

NO DEAD ANIMALS.......that means no dead animals even if your friends dare you, or if it smells really good, or if you can't tell that it came from an animal.  none. nada.

just because it doesn't look like a chicken anymore doesn't make it any less the boiled flesh of a dead chicken.

it has nothing to do with whether or not you support PETA.....i am not a PETA supporter and i would never drink chicken stock now that i'm vegetarian.  in fact, MANY vegetarians don't support PETA.  PETA is not the be all and end all of vegetarianism............check out this site instead:

www.vegsoc.org.  That's the site for the Vegetarian Society....they made up the word.

you sound like you're not very committed to what you're doing.  if you want to still consume some animal products, that's fine.....just don't call yourself a vegetarian.  you can eat what you want without having to have a label......

or is that why you chose to do this in the first place?

  15. chicken stock is meat.

It really does not need to get any more complicated than that.

Vegetarians do not eat chicken stock, its made with slaughter by-products.

  16. your not a vegetarian then.  chicken stock is chicken. there's no difference if you drink chicken stock or eat a chicken wing.  if you want to be a vegetarian you'd stop eating all forms of meat, liquid or solid.  you also wouldn't eat it "cause your friends dared you".. that makes no sense, do you even want to be a vegetarian?  that's fine if you don't want to be, but if you do, you don't eat meat....
