my subs keep cutting in and out one time they will work other times they wont and you can hear my cap beeping when it comes on and off on and off i think my remote wire is doing this because thats what turns them both on my remote wire is only reading about 1.18 volts is that enough? other then that all my wires are good power and ground reading almost 13 volts or so so my amp must be gone

  1. if its enough to make it turn on then its enough all it needs is a little bit a juice to tell the amp to turn on it does not power anything so it does not need to be 13 volts sounds to me like a lose wire on your battery  or a bad ground

  2. 1.18 volts is not very much power; here is what I think.  Maybe you had your volt meter on the wrong setting.  Perhaps its actually getting 11.8 volts (which should be normal).  You should test this.  I would check the volts again from your remote wire, and then check the volts coming from you battery.  if they are radically different, you know something is up.  I  would then run a jumper wire directly from the battery to your "remote in" on your amps.  See if your subs cut out again.  If they do, then you may have a blown voice coil, or some internal damage to your amp, or a loose connection somewhere.  Check with the ground and follow the power wires back to the battery.  If all is good, I would try a different speaker and maybe switch the amps with another one that you know for sure works...

I had a similar problem, it turned out to be a blown speaker that caused the amp to go into "protection mode" and cut out at various times.  After replacing the speaker, all was fixed.

Good luck, and i hope it works out for you.
