How many watts do i need?

Question

I have 2 12" alpine type r, each of the speakers have a 4ohm load capacity , and they are 500 watts rms each, how many watts do i need on a monoblock amplifier to power these amplifiers to the max? And what would be a good amplifier for this installation?

If you want to fully power them, you'll want to go with Rockford Fosgate's P1000-1bd. You'll be running at a 1ohm load, and that amplifier is 1ohm stable. Alpine makes a similar amplifier too.

you need an amp that is 1000 watts at 2ohms to get a two ohm load you need to run it in parallel.Any amp that runs 1000 watts at 2 ohms would be good. Here is one JL Audio A Series A1800, http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/I...

you can't wire these subs to 1 ohm...

but you can wire it to 2 ohms. look at amps and ignore the 4 ohm power, just look at the RMS at 2 ohms.

my amp is 500W RMS @ 4 ohms

900W RMS @ 2 ohms

1800W RMS @ 1 ohm

i have the kenwood 9103D which is runnin for $190 on sonicelectronix.com

the new version is 9104D runnin at $300. Thats how much i paid for the 9103. The 9104 just has a new design. Same power rating and everything

always buy a amp that has more power than you need.you can alway adjust the amp for the proper sound settings to + or-watts. get yourself like a 1200watt alpine amp that should do the trick
