The electrical draw (how many watt-hours the equipment uses) will determine the amount of solar energy needed.  Then, you have to account for system losses (nothing converts energy perfectly) add batteries, charge controllers, and an inverter system for solar panels to be able to provide the electricity to run a standard DVD player & TV.  If you used DC powered equipment, then the needs drop to just batteries and  charge controllers.  Hope this helps.

Well, if you were running them just off of solar panels, you could run them for as long as the sun was strong.  I think what you want to know is, how many watts does a tv and dvd player draw?  Then multiply by two  and that is the number of watt-hours you need.  Then you would need a solar panel and battery system capable of providing x number of watt-hours.
