On May 28, 2003, the Consumer Electronics Association published standard CEA-2006, "Testing & Measurement Methods for Mobile Audio Amplifiers." This "voluntary" standard advocates a uniform method for determining an amplifier's RMS power and signal-to-noise ratio. Using 14.4 volts, RMS watts are measured into a 4-ohm impedance load at 1 percent Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) plus noise, at a frequency range (for general purpose amplifiers) of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4 ohms. This applies to both external amplifiers and the amplifiers within in-dash receivers.

According to Rockford Fosgate the P300.1 is capable of producing 150 watts into a single channel at 4 ohms or 300 watts into a single channel at 2 ohms useing the CEA-2006 standard of measure.

To determine what the amplifier will do in your vehicle you need to dertmine the electical impedance of the speakers you are connecting and the nominal voltage at the amplifier with the vehicle running. Most vehicles will charge at closer to 13.6v ( not 14.4v ) Then apply your results to ohms law to determine the RMS power out put in your vehicle.

Power = Voltage squared devided by Resistance

That will tell you what the Power Output ( Wattage ) of the amplifier is in your perticular application .

On the engineering sheet that comes with that amp it says 432 watts rms @ 2ohm.,but it is rated @ 300watt rms @2 ohm for CEA
