  1. Depends on how skilled a golfer you are.  If your hdcp is a single digit, I say go for the 60 (LW), my recommendation is a spin-milled vokey design, they really bite the ball and you can really control the ball and get it to stop where you want it to.

  2. great point . i am a senior had to ditch driver , added extra wedge play with 5 wedges . you have 3 wedges including factory wedge 47 degrees maximum loft . try 59 to 61 degree koft v. toss long iron . takes practice , well worth carrying 4 wedges . more people should . very great question .

  3. Thats it! I go by Phils theory of 4 wedges. And look were he is. I have a pitching wedge(48 degree), A 52 degree, a 56 degree, and a 60 degree.

  4. It depends on the course you play and the shots you are required to hit most often.  If it is a fairly short course where you don't hit a 2 or 3 iron very often, then a third a fourth wedge might be advantageous for shots around the green, but on the other hand if you have a 56 it shouldn't be that hard to just open it up to 58 for a higher lob shot and maybe a long iron, or utility wood might help you score better.

  5. I personally think it is always to have another wedge as opposed to a 2iron or some other long club.  You might look at adding a 60 to your set.  I Carry a PW, SW, and LW

  6. You have 3 counting your PW.  What's the loft on the PW.  If it's 45 or 46 consider adding a 50 degree.  I think it's more important to look at the clubs in your bag as a whole and is there a club you never hit, or ca't hit consistently,  that you can take out and replace with another wedge.

  7. The next logical choice would be a 60 degree.

Also, with many of the manufacturers jacking up their lofts, some PW's are 45 degrees.  Thats why some golfers opt for 4 or possibly 5 wedges (45 or 46, 50, 54 or 56, and 60, 62 or 64).

There are so many possibilites.  It all varies and depends on what your distance gaps are.

  8. The one and only question to be answered by the questioner is how good a player are you?  If you are a single digit handicap who hits the pitching and sand wedge well carrying another wedge may be handy at times. Then again if your course is of average length and as a medium ball striker you need great long  iron shots to score, the hybrids may be the choice. So you see ?? It all depends.

  9. I carry PW, 52, 56, 60.   I should probably drop my hybrid and put a gap wedge in there between the PW and 52, but eh, i can pretty much cover that distance by changing my swing.

I find the 60 is very helpful not only out of sand for delicate shots, but a lot of the greens i play around here are elevated and its very easy to get the ball up in the air and land it softly from a tight (or not so tight) lie.
