i know everyone is different but just curious. my first child i had at 38 weeks (they induced me for medical reasons) and now im 34 weeks with my second and have also had some problems but different than my first. this time i almost went into premature labor...but they say things are back on track now. hopefully i will be able to go into labor as normal rather than be induced. but just wondering how far along others were when they actually went into labor. and if your baby was a little early how long did he/she have to stay in the hospital?

also how far along before everything with my baby is fully developed? is it 36 weeks? if i went into labor now (which it feels like it could be soon lol) would my daughter have to stay in the hospital for her lungs? thanks!!

  1. 39 weeks

  2. 34 weeks is a bit early. I had my first son at 36 weeks, and he was 5lbs 13oz. He was able to go home with me also. My water broke so they had to induce labor. Very LONG 36 hour labor. 2nd Son was 40 weeks almost to the day and he was 8lbs 8oz. I broke every blood vessel in my eyes trying to get that big boy out! 3rd child, daughter was also 40 weeks, and she was 7lbs 11oz. Cesearian because she was in the breech position.  Just relax, don't do anything strenuous that could start labor, and hopefully you can last another couple weeks.  GOOD LUCK!

  3. I had my baby at 28 weeks and she was fully developed, just her organs were immature and she was little.  her lungs in particular needed some assistance with additional oxygen until she was around 8 weeks old.  She came home after 9 weeks in hospital. She has playmates who were born at 24 weeks.

These kids are now 5 years old and all perfectly fine and healthy.

37 weeks is generally considered fully mature.

  4. 37 weeks.

  5. 1st was on her due date

    2nd was 4 days early

    3rd was 39 weeks

  6. I was 3 days late with my first, so I guess it would have been about 40 1/2 weeks when I had him. I just went for my 36 week appt. yesterday and they said I am 75% effaced and 1/2 - 1 cm dilated so this one looks like she's coming sooner than my son did. I wasn't effaced or dilated at all on my due date with him so I'm crossing my fingers lol.

37 weeks is considered full term, 36 weeks is pretty good though....they may want to keep the baby for observations and what not if she were born now.

    Congrats and good luck!!

  7. I was 28 weeks Yes 28 weeks with my first set and

I was 34 weeks with my second set.

My second ones had to stay for a little while in the hospital but all they had was an oxygen dome.

Your one should not even need that. :o)

  8. I had my first son at 40 weeks (on his due date!)

My 2nd son was born 39 weeks

My first daughter was born 36 weeks (we stayed in hopital a week due to jaundice. But everything else was fully developed, apparently 36 weeks is the cut off for prem babies)

My second daughter was born 40 weeks (1 day early than edd)

  9. I delivered all 3 of my girls on the exact due date the Dr. gave me. So right on time. Full term.

  10. My sister's baby was 42 weeks! her baby was BIIIGGG! and now his baby is 1 year old and she is pregnant again!

  11. I was 39 weeks, 6 days.

They consider 37 weeks to be full-term, which is when if you went into labor, or if there was an emergency and had to have the baby out then, everything should be developed by then.

  12. My son was born at 38 weeks completely healthy.  (I was 18)  He's still a happy, healthy guy, too! =)

And 36 weeks is when the lungs are fully developed.  If I were you I would join http://www.babycenter.com and http://www.babyzone.com - they have calendars that tell you what to expect around certain times..  It's pretty helpful!

Good luck, hope everything goes well!
