  1. most ordinances, which recently received a favorable recommendation from a majority of state Planning Commissions, would limit the number of wind turbines to one per "property"; set to a minimum "property" size of 2 acres; and create a setback requirement of 110 percent of a windmill's height.

So you would figure out the grid per windmill height, at a minimum of 2 Acres per mill, and the setback allowance.

Keep in mind this is a basis only, every county has its own regulations....especially if you in or near air traffic/approach paths

  2. Wind turbines?  Do you really want how many MW of power per acre?

You could put hundreds of small turbines on one acre, but it's much more efficient to use a few large ones.

a 2 MW turbine will occupy an area of about 72 meters across. You don't want them too close, so I'll use 80 meters. That's a square area of 1600 m² or 0.4 acres.

So you can get 2 - 2 MW turbines per acre.

If you look at a 200kw unit, it takes a space 27-30m across

which is an area of 900 m² or 0.22 acre.

So you can get 4 - 200 kw units per acre. Obviously this is a lot less power per acre than you get with the larger units.

  3. If you buy one at the dollar store, you can fit thousands.
