My family owns and operates a drag strip, and I discovered I like DRIVING them, not spectating.  NOT the noise and smelliness of the sport.

I had an 83  Z-28 Camaro for many years.  I had it lowered and a high performance gear installed.  It was amazing to drive on the freeways, but not so easy in the city - with speed bumps and all.   Had to sell it before I lost my license.

I have been through 2 trans ams.  The last was a 30th anniversay edition.  Loved the sound of the engine when it was idling and drove it over 100 mph several times and never got caught.  Got too obsessed though and it was good karma when the moving van hit it and I got rid of it after the $3000 to fix it (their insurance covered).  I'd get one in a heartbeat if I could afford it.

I am working in Saudi Arabia and ALL the cars here are fast, even if they are not build to be fast. And all the drivers are men. Even though they would have been taken off the road in South Africa, either by road rage or speed cops, it is still less stressful to be on the road here than in South Africa. I never realized I would miss driving so much. Nothing beats the feeling of a fast , strong car, open road, music playing , you behind the wheel with the wind in your hair...

I had a friend in South Africa that raced, officially. I used to help him prepare the car before a race, like filing the wheels. (Believe it or not they do that, it helps with the grip) And they at least have built-in bars that protect them if they roll. I raced with him and enjoyed it thoroughly.

But after losing a family member in an accident, where no other cars were involved. And although he could truly drive very well, he.…obviously overestimated his ability….killed himself, his buddy badly wounded........racing has soured for me. And this is not that long ago...

I had and loved an old white Alpha Spider...

Today I would love a 4x4 Jeep. I don't care in what shape it is!

I love fast cars but then either I must drive myself ( I drive very slowly) or the driver must know what he is doing. For Xmas my husband bought me my dream car, or my affordable dream car, but if I was a billionaire, i would love to have a Dodge Viper or an Ashton Martin.....or my ultimate a Bugatti Veryon (not too sure on the spelling)
