  1. I'm currently taking plumbing courses at a technical college and the HVAC class is right next door, and I've never seen any women in there. I also did a lot of work installing vacuum systems, and I saw a lot of HVAC guys, no HVAC gals though. But don't let it stop you.

  2. HVAC Tech.: I personally have known two women that are HVAC Techs. They were both capable and efficient. We really need more like them.

  3. I've been a commercial carpenter for 15 years.  During that time, I've met about a dozen or so women doing HVAC.  I'd say 7 or 8 were tinners, the rest steamfitters.  They worked as well as any of their male counterparts.  There are women in all of the trades here (Madison, WI), and all seem to be perfectly capable of doing their jobs.  Hope this helps.

  4. Before i retired I ran a large service company with about 3,800 technicians.  Despite an active recruiting and apprentice program we were only able to attract about a dozen women.  And these were in the trade because they were following someone in their family.  The trade simply isn't on women's radar screens when they make career decisions.  Our woman technicians were perfectly capable  of doing anything the men did.  There is still some resistance to women in the trade from the old school grunts and close knit union shops, but the field is wide open to them.

  5. Retired hvac/r service mechanic and electrician including off shore work. Never met one.

  6. I have been in the electrical/construction field for over 28yrs and been a journeyman electrician for 23yrs and can honestly say I have never met any females in the HVAC field at all. I know of several in the electrical field and they are very capable of all phases of the work.
