  1. it totally doesn't matter, i've read books with 10 000 pages and i've read them with a couple hundred... its you perogitive.

  2. Chapters vary by writer and by genre.

What I've always been told is to stop the chapter when it feels right.  Try to stop right after some revelation or in the middle of the action so that the reader wants to keep going.

  3. Make them as short or as long as you like. It really depends on your own comfort. Many authors have 2 page chapters, and many have 50 page chapters or more. Some of them vary --  I never look at page count when doing chapters -- it usually just comes to you when you feel a scene should end.

  4. A chapter should end when it makes sense in the story. If you want to break and change the subject or something. The first answer is correct, it doesn't really matter and you can always change the chapter breaks in later drafts.

  5. it doesn't matter how many words. just make it at least a few pages. :)

  6. It's all up to you. I've read books where ever time you turn the page there's a new chapter. And some where there so few and far between I forget which chapter I'm on. As a fellow novelist, I've started two books -- one of which has really short chapters and one that somewhat long chapters. It's all up to you
