  3. 18 World Records have been set so far at the Beijing Olympics; 11 by male swimmers and 7 by female swimmers.

    Of the 11 World records set in men's events, Michael Phelps has 5 including 2 team relay records (all of his WRs were in the medal round).

    There have been more than 40 Olympic smimming records broken so far at the games, including several that have been broken more than once.
