  1. it would be much safer to live next door to a small nuclear plant that would power a whole city than to live under the drop zone of a 300 foot tall wind turbine that would only power a few houses, especially in tornado alley.

  2. The question is rather ambigous. If you want to know the exact number of the bidders, it is not easy and to give a confirmed numbers. However, every qualified contractor will cast his bid the tender box.

  3. OK, lets build one or two next to YOUR house.

  4. It worked for France.  They started with an American  Westinghouse design in the fifties and never looked back.  Somehow they kept their lefties in check and were able to give OPEC the finger without being tied up in court  as would be nuke builders are in the USA.  More people have died in Ted Kennedy's car than have died in French or American nuclear plant accidents. Nuke plants put zero pollution into the atmosphere.  However, you do get a tiny amount of radioactive waste.

  5. Not me.   Too costly, takes too long to build and after it's build the plant is more than likely to be operating at near 100% capacity due to demand being more than what was anticipated ten years earlier when it was on the draw board.

There's also the problem with waste disposal, melt downs and while I'm sure that they could withstand a lot of punishment from an attack, would be a target for terrorists.

Why can't they put more clean burning coal plants online?   They know how to do it.

  6. Absolutely, nuclear power is the only real answer.

  7. Built by the lowest bidder?   Not me.   Built in a socialist manner for the good of the country and safety of its inhabitants instead of for the good of investors who don't live anywhere near them?   Sure, nothing wrong with safe nukes.
