  1. We need a few more criterion to answer your question.

    * how large is your subject?

    * how much of the frame do you want it to fill?

    * what is the focal length multiplier on your cameras sensor (1x, 1.3x 1.5x, 1.6x or 2x)

    If you are thinking of shooting birds at a feeder, then about three meters (a little over 15 feet), full figure photos, then about 10 meters (just over 30 feet)


  2. Your question is not proper at all.

    However its answer is"up to infinity".

    How many yards?is not a restriction for any lens .

    Not only 200 mm but almost all lens can take photo upto infinity..Distance limit comes only in flash photography and The lens is not the deciding factor for maximum distance.
