  1. Get two pieces of fleece, each 3 yd. by 3 yd. and follow the instructions on the link below. Most fleece is 5' wide and however long you want to get it so I'm sure as long as both pieces are the same size, you could adapt it for your friend. I would get 2 yd (6') of 60" wide (5') fleece in one solid and one pattern. Good luck!! : )

  2. If fleece is sold by the 36 inches wide, then imagine her lying down with a 3 foot wide cover, and buy enough for her to tuck under her chin and cover her legs - say 6 feet + 2 yards.

Now if the fabric is 60 inches (5 ft) wide, as some fabrics are, it is a different cup of tea.  Think of her lying with the fabric the other way as she covers herself.  The 5 feet is now from chin to foot.  You will need to buy one yard only to make the blanket 3 feet wide.  and to account for the shorter length of the chin to foot you could add fringe or another color of fabric as the "under the chin" tucking bit and for the foot area another thicker fringey bit.  OK??

  3. 2 yards minimum for a small blanket (throw blanket for a couch), 3-4 yards for a blanket to fit the whole bed
