I really want to work with kids, it seems like its the only thing I actually enjoy do and I am just craving a career at this point in my life instead of a job. Any advice?

  1. to my knowledge you just need to have like 12 ECE (early childhood education) units thats about a semester....I'm pretty sure thats what it is....

  2. I was hired where I work as a teacher now, when I was a senior in high school. I wasn't a lead teacher, but I eventually got my own class, and even then I wasn't done going to school for another year.

  3. About two years where I live, but it may be different in other states.

There IS a difference between a career & a JOB ( earning a paycheck), you are correct!  I commend your willingness to use your talents, skills & abilities to work with children. There are lives waiting to be touched by what you have to offer. I am investing my time in the lives of children while earning a living. I am making my life as I make a living. I do not just "clock in" at work, get paid & spend my money!  AS most people know working with children does not create financial wealth. I do believe that it is a valuable investment that cannot be measured in dollars! Some people say... well if you love it so much then why do you get paid?.. just do it for free! I also volunteer my time working with children. It is my responsibility to take care of myself, so I need to earn money to do that. The difference between a "job" & a career is measured by the heart! Good for you & all of the childrens' lives that will be changed because you are driven by giving, not receiving.

Continue to follow your dream until it becomes a reality.  Express gratitude to each person that helps you along the way. Remember that what you are doing is IMPORTANT!  Listen to those who offer encouragement. Whatever your situation take classes when you can & DO NOT GIVE UP. Remember this quote as you go toward the life that you deserve:

You make a living by what you get

You make a life by what you give

What you take is yours for now

What you give is yours forever

    Sir Winston Churchill

    I wish you the best.
