  1. None. There is virtually no historical evidence for such a mass-migration,and there should be. The Egyptians kept meticulous records and there is no reference to any enslavement of the Hibaru, still less to any mass-escape with charioteers chasing them, etc. There are no archeological traces of such a migration; it could not have occured without leaving a trail of broken water vessels, crude tools and other implements and so on. The accounts in the Tannahk are wildly discordant, particularly with reference to the River Jordan and it's geographical relation to the alleged Promised Land. It is folklore and nothing more. There is no external evidence whatsoever for such an ocurrance, what to speak of obvious fabulism such a manna falling from heaven.

  2. 40 years....

  3. The Bible says 40 years.

Supposedly it took so long because Moses won't stop and ask for directions.

  4. The period of time as recorded in Exodus was 40 years, until one generation was exchanged.

They were not lost in terms of their location and direction of travel since they had leadership (Moses, Aaron, elders of the tribes) and God Himself directed them in their movements and provided for them. In another sense many of them were 'lost' in the bondage of their own rebellious and grumbling attitude. which even annoyed Moses so much that he 'lost it'.

  5. 40 years and it was the Arabian desert not the Egyptian desert

  6. 40 years

  7. Remember the Golden Calf the Hebrews made Aaron make.  God destroyed it and it's worshippors.

Then said they could not enter the promised land until this generation had passed.  A generation being 40 years.

    Wandering

Of the Israelites in the wilderness in consequence of their rebellious fears to enter the Promised Land (Num 14:26-35). They wandered for forty years before they were permitted to cross the Jordan (Jos 4:19; Jos 5:6).

The record of these wanderings is given in Num 33:1-49. Many of the stations at which they camped cannot now be identified.

Questions of an intricate nature have been discussed regarding the "Wanderings," but it is enough for us to take the sacred narrative as it stands, and rest assured that "He led them forth by the right way" (Ps 107:1-7, 33-35). (See WILDERNESS

  8. he wandered for 40 years (even in those days men didnt ask for directions)

  9. It is said he wandered 40 years because god did not want to allow all the former slaves to enter the land of milk and honey because they endured so much suffering they were changed people. he wanted their children - the new generation to have a fresh start and to be able to live in the land happily without memories of horrible trials and tribulations.

supposidly 40 years was enough time for that generation to die and for their children to enter the land.

  10. Supposedly 40 years, but their 40 years could have been 40 days or weeks for us.
