  1. It dates back to the 1800's but the thing is it's not finished. It's quite an interesting story really.


  2. I agree that the "full development" of the periodic table is still going on.  So count the years from 1869 till 2008.

    Not only are new elements being discovered from time to time, but people keep reinventing the periodic table, by coming up with new ways to represent the arrangement of elements.

    If you can find this book by Eric Scerri this weekend it will be an excellent reference.
