  1. upper-70-ish years (it varies)

  2. It's 75 to 76 years.  There's some variation.  The orbit can get changed by the gravity of the planets.  The orbit can get changed by the jets that come out of the comet when it gets close to the Sun.

Recently, Comet Halley was imaged by large ground base telescopes - and it was out by Neptune.  In previous passes, it had to come closer to the Sun so that astronomers could "recapture" it.  But now, the comet can be imaged anywhere in it's orbit.  So we can have a good idea where it is, for example.  But astronomers wanted to see what the nucleus looked like when it's not spraying dust everywhere.

  3. 75-76 according to wikipedia. the last time it came around was 1986. It'll be back in 2061

  4. The next come isn't coming for ten more yrs.

  5. i believe that it is every 75 years :]

  6. Mark Twain came in on Halley's comet and went out on it in 1910 75 years later, it is said.

  7. Hailey's Comet comes around about every 74-76 years. Well, somewhere in the 70s.

  8. either 72 or 76

    im pretey sure it 76

  9. I'm pretty sure it is every 70 years, but I don't know the last time it has come around.

  10. I saw Halley's Comet when it came in 1986 and it was a disappointment. It was a far cry from earlier accounts about how the tail filled up the whole sky and that it could easily be seen in the daytime. This go-around really wasn't any more impressive than Hale-Bopp a little over a decade ago. That was because it was at a much greater distance from the earth during its closest approach to the sun. I've heard that its return in 2061 is going to be even worse.

  11. every 76 years i believe a life time worth

  12. Halley's Comet last swung by the Earth in 1986 and now lies in the outer solar system. But every time it passes near the Sun on its 76-year orbit, the nucleus of the icy object sheds about 6 metres of material, which spreads out along the comet's orbit.  It will return in 2061.

  13. Halley's Comet, officially designated 1P/Halley and also referred to as Comet Halley after Edmond Halley, is a comet that can be seen every 75–76 years. It is the most famous of all periodic comets.

  14. 70 years my name is Hayley and I was born in the year Hailey'scomet came around and I was also born on leap year

  15. Nominally 76 years. Each return is slightly different due to the gravity of the planets.

  16. Halley's Comet can be seen every 75–76 years. It  last appeared in the inner Solar System in 1986, and will next appear in mid 2061.

  17. In round numbers, 76 years.  Sir Edmond Halley was the guy who recognized the periodic nature of the comet named for him.
