  1. That depends. Are you majoring in math, or math education?

If you have a bachelor's degree in math, you need 4 more classes and two tests (basic proficiency and content knowledge) to get alternative certification in my state (but check the department of education website in your own state to see what applies to you).

If math education, you should get your teaching credentials from the university where you got your 4-year degree.

  2. 4 years for bachelor's degree (minimum), 2 more for masters.

  3. Call you local university.  It varies by each school.  They are the only ones who can answer this question for you.

  4. Probably 4 years to get a Bachelor's degree and another two years if you want a Master's.

In a lot of states, teachers have to be certified, so you might also have to take some sort of certification course.
