Depends on what your degree and subject of study is.  Remember that the higher the education level, the more earning potential you have with the jobs available with the education.

You can go to a vocational school or accelerated learning program lasting a matter of months to a year.

You get an associate's degree which is usually 4-5 semesters (about 2 years).

Baccalaureate degree is 4-5 years.

Master's degree is usually 2 years on top of a Baccalaureate.

Doctorate is usually 2 years on top of master's.
