I wanted to know by experience how many years it takes after your undergrad and med-school to continue for surgery. Including when you specialize and the details of being an intern and pay. Thanks

  1. well you have to go to undergrad for 4 years. then med school is another 4 years. thats 8 years so far, and then you have residency, which is probably around 5 years, maybe more for a surgeon, surgery is a demanding speciality. then you will probably specialize further and there will be additional years of training for that. and as a doctor, you're always learning so training never really stops lol.

  2. IT depends. I know a vascular surgeon and he started making money when he was 33 yrs old.  He makes 450k a year.  SEriously crazy money.  But he was poor and had shtty hours until he was 33 yrs old when he finished his residency.

  3. My aunt is a general surgeon in Louisville, Ky.  She went to undergrad for 4 years, med school for 4 years, and did residency for 5 years.  So...basically if you're planning on getting your M.D. and going into surgery...you're looking at 8-9 years of graduate school.  But...it pays off.  She gets paid 500,000 a year.  ;)
