  1. In Florida 10 -12 months

  2. Depends on what kind of schooling you choose.  You can do an accelerated program at a private school and get it done in about 6 months or less or if you go the junior college route, it could take 1-2 years depending on how many classes you take each semester.

  3. It just depends on what state you live in what level you decide.  In Ohio for instance, you must start out with EMT-Basic school.  If you take a 40 hour per week course at a local JVS, you'll have it done in a month.  If you only take night classes 2-3 times per week for the working person, you will be done in around 3 months.  If you decide to move forward and take EMT-Intermediate from there, that is an additional time that is about like the EMT-Basic course.

Paramedic course, however, is different.  This can not take at the local JVS most of the time.  Most of the time you must take this at an accredited college and your looking at a year.  The EMT- Basic and Intermediate courses are around 144 hours a piece, while the paramedic course is around 1,200 hours, depending on the state's requirements and the schools curriculum.  You do not have to be an Intermediate to become a paramedic and some states don't even have intermediates.  However, you do have to be an EMT-Basic before you become an Intermediate or Paramedic.
