How many years does it take to process canadian immigration for US citizens?

My husband and I are planning to immigrate to Canada. We both have university degrees and have 10 years work experience in the field of web design and education.

We want to know how long it takes to process the paper work. Any information? anyone out there who already went to this process? please advise. thanks
