  1. In most places, until you die.

You are serving a life sentence on planet Earth, even if you aren't in jail - think about it.

And by the way - two other items:

    1) WAY wrong category...

    2) Thanks for the free points.

  2. Um, it probably just is as long as one is going to live.  HOwever long they live will be their sentence; they're imprisoned until they pass away..

  3. The length of a life sentence varies from country to country. Some countries, such as Austria and Denmark, have life sentences that literally mean "until death."

Others have limits to the "life sentence." In Greece, the life term is 25 years. In Bosnia, it is 40 years. In Bolivia, it is 30 years. And here in the Philippines, it is 40 years.

Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_impris... for more details:

Life imprisonment or life incarceration is a sentence of imprisonment for a serious crime, often for most or even all of the criminal's remaining life, but in fact for a period which varies between jurisdictions: many countries have a maximum possible period of time (usually 7 to 50 years) a prisoner may be incarcerated, or require the possibility of parole after a set amount of time.

  4. from that day youve been sentanced and on till you die.

  5. And the relevance to astronomy is?...

Anyway - it depends on how old you are, and probably, to some extent, how rough the prison is you end up in (some have shorter life expectancies...)

  6. It's a very long time for an immortal.

Were you planning for your retirement?

  7. no idea what this has to do with astronomy, but it depends on the jurisdiction.

in canada, a life sentence is that: you will be in jail, or on parole, until you die.

one episode of the tv show da vinci's inquest dealt with a man who was serving a life sentence, had suffered a severe heart attack, died in the ambulance, but his heart started again. had he served his sentence? was he a free man? there had been no death certificate, but the paramedics had radioed in "this guy is dead. we're going to the morgue."

  8. As much years as up to how many years you are going to live.
