How many years is the study for microbiology?

I would like to pursue a career in microbiology.I would like more information. Can anyone please help??.

  1. I depends what country you're in. In the UK to be state registered as a microbiologist you need an approved degree and then complete an in-house laboratory log book. For me it took 5 years as I had to get the degree whilst working. If you already have the degree then 6 months to a year to do the training. Different countries I don't know - I expect they are quite strict too though.


  2. It depends. Do you want to do a bachelor, master or a phd. They are respectively 3 or4, 1 or 2, 3 or 5 years respectively for each of the courses above
