  1. If you took AP Science, you might not need any chemistry. However, if you didn't, then a year of General Chemistry for General Ed requirement is usually standard at universities. However, you might be able to get the same General Ed requirement by taking another science class (depends on your university).


  2. In order to become a psychiatrist, you must go to medical school. In order to qualify to apply to medical schools, you must take one year of general chemistry with lab, and one year of organic chemistry with lab, at college. That is the standard pre-med coursework in chem.

    For some med schools, if you took the AP exam in chem, you can waive one of the semesters of general chem. But some med schools will require you to take a different chem to substitute for the class you don't take.

  3. That depends.  Individual states and schools have their own standards.  You should check with whatever university your looking to go to.
